Dan Popkey — In Idaho, Boehner vows to succeed with entitlement reform this fall

Bonehead energizes the troops:
House Speaker John Boehner said Monday that getting the GOP-controlled House to agree to raising the U.S. debt ceiling will only come with a bipartisan deal to make cost-saving changes to Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, farm programs and government pensions....
“I made up my mind that we weren’t going to kick the can down the road any more,” Boehner, R-Ohio, told a Boise lunch crowd at a fundraiser for Idaho’s 2nd District Congressman Mike Simpson. “We’re not going to inflict all of this pain and suffering on our kids and our grandkids.”
Translation: The establishments of both parties are preparing for a deal that benefits the plutocrats that they can each sell to their own base as the best deal that could be gotten. The good side is that both parties will try to gain maximum advantage, which is likely to scuttle the deal as it has in the past.

"House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) promised a "whale of a fight" over the debt ceiling Monday and said that he wanted cuts greater than the increase in the limit.
"I've made it clear that we're not going to increase the debt limit without cuts and reforms that are greater than the increase in the debt limit," he said at a Boise fundraiser for Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), according to the Idaho Statesman. "The president doesn't think this is fair, thinks I'm being difficult to deal with. But I'll say this: It may be unfair but what I'm trying to do here is to leverage the political process to produce more change than what it would produce if left to its own devices. We're going to have a whale of a fight.""

This basically throws the entire 2104 outlook into question... if they end up doing this... right now we (were) looking at only an 80b cut from previous budgeted amounts which looked like it (was) going to still result in about a YoY breakeven on the govt top-line number.... and then some nice increases in 2015...

Sure, could be a bunch of political posturing but this muddies the water for sure for now...

morons actually driving the car (not in the car seat) and we have no way to tell which way they will actually yank the controls at this point... we just have to "brace ourselves" for now...

Hippocryts and fools all of congress and senate, self serving pork barrel eating lobbyist money taking, useless cannon fotter all.
After many decades of raiding the S.S. funds from our taxes to prop up the Washington insiders, these Aholes now want to cut the benefits after taking taxes from us my whole life. Asshole Bonehead should cut his own medical benefits along with the gubbament workers, he could stand to cut his staff too and cut out all the perks. Christie, Scott (fla) Perry TX and a few more governors all luv Obamacare, when they realized the healthcare providers told them "Hey we stand to make profits from this deal and the law actually reduces costs to medicaire for your voters. So they rename it repackage it but it is the same deal. However I am afraid the service will go way down and test results will take four weeks to get on cancer test etc. instead of a few hours now. Both parties are there for one reason to increase their positions in life and increase our burdens. Somebody should hang a sign on these elected officials , " Somebody please cut my perks and benefits to balance the budget"
